Tukutuku panel

THE MEANING OF OUR TUKUTUKU
Before I tell you guys the story we named our tukutuku Te wehenga ā Papa-tū-ā-nuku raua ko Ranginui. While Papa-tu-ā-nuku and Ranginui were still together they were slowly falling apart from each other and when they were slowly falling apart they had a feeling that they would never see each other again. When Papa-tu-ā-nuku and Ranginui got separated the children were happy because they had at last freedom. When they were seperated there became a balance between darkness and light the atua had realised that they had made a terrible mistake by separating their parents. After the humans arrival everything started to get oddly strange and they called this climate change. Climate change is where the environment changes like water pollution, flooding and earthquakes. Bad chemicals going into our awa, deforestation, air pollution, sea levels rising, temperatures are rising, lower soil affecting our rainforest. Humans decided to throw rubbish around only thinking about themselves and not Papa-tua-nuku or Ranginui.
 THE PERSON THAT INSPIRED US?
Heene kerekere was the person because
She was asked to teach floor mats at 4 different marae in her rohe. We also liked her because She learnt how to weave in the early 1980s.
WHAT COLOURS DID WE USE?
Green represents Papa-tū-ā-nuku
Black represents Ranginui and the separation
Red represents Tumatauenga
Yellow represents Rongomatāne

Blue represents Tangaroa and Tāwhirimatea.

How - Walk to the hall
When-03.09.2019 of september on Tuesday.
Who-Matua Filipe
Why-because it's Tongan language week.
What- Matua Filipe art work

Where-Hall

On 03.09.2019, Matua Filipe came to our school for Tongan language week. He had a guest with him also, his name is John but he was like a kaiawhina. In the beginning, Whaea Luti introduced herself to them and then Matua Filipe introduced himself to us. Matua started to show us some of his artwork he had done. They were very cool and also weird. One of the art pieces was a boat going forward and if you turn your head the other way was a plane. Those two were my favourites. There was some photos in the beginning too but I don't really know how to translate it back into my own words.
In the end, Whaea Luti picked five people to ask Matua Filipe some questions. The first one was George, he is in Room 8. I accidentally forgot his questions. The other one I didn't know their name but I know the questions they ask. The questions were how many art pieces have you done? Then we finished and all of the classes went back to their akomanga.

My beautiful and nice art work.

Waiari
WALT: I have learnt the importance of the mangopare/Hammerhead shark.
This is a photo of my work I did with Whaea Ariana.
Whaea Ariana did the outlines of the mokomoko and we coloured it in with pastels, colouring pencils, vivids, felt tips and crayons. The colour I started with was orange and pink. I tested the colours out on a scrap paper and it made a nice and beautiful sunset colour, it was so pretty! After I coloured it I did the outside orange. Then there was this wave thing i coloured in with a red pastel. After I did that part I did the rest of the sunset part blue, yellow, green, pink, purple and more nice light colours. The red ngaru is Hine-Nui-Te-Po and the colourful ngaru is Hineahuone.
Then I went to whaea Ariana and she did the outside lines gold and black. Then i was finished. Ko Nga Uri o Te Rauroha te ingoa o toku nei mahi toi.
                                                          The end!

Kaokao tukutuku panel

WALT: I know the significance of tukutuku panels and why maori made them.
What is the name of your Tukutuku?
KaoKao

What is Kaokao?
Kaokao is what warriors have on their arm for a ta moko, But if it was seen/caught in a haka.
Kaokao is also a zig zag and it's from the Te Arawa and East Coast iwi.
Kaokao is also a side of our body. What side? Right.

What does the colours mean to you?
This is what it means to me.
Red is for love, blood, my heart, anger, passion, danger and power.
Blue is for Tangaroa, T.p.s, beautiful sea, sky, warm, calm, peace and trust.
Brown is for our earth, nature, coffee, chocolate, wood, bark, sticks, trees, soil and dirt.

Kaitiakitanga

WALT: I know why being a kaitiaki is so important to me.
This is my photo of my mokomoko who is an kaitiakitanga.
A kaitiakitanga is a guardian,  who protects and who is a rangatira.
Te Puna Wairua did this because we were learning about Mokomoko.
We did it in Te Puna Wairua.(Rm 5. ) I use was pastels. My colour pastels were red, purple, green, brown,  blue and orange. To me it was beautiful until I added the brown bit on the Mokomoko head. After that I was done.
